About - Suffolk Soul Singers

Formed in October 2009, we are a 40-strong diverse group of individuals, united by a love of singing. Supported by a professional live band, the choir’s performances are a unique musical experience full of energy and excitement.

What to expect

SSS are a vocal group, but by no means a conventional choir. As the name suggests, our repertoire is taken from soul and gospel roots, as well as contemporary artists, encompassing modern gospel influenced music such as soul, reggae and pop. Led by local professional singer and musician Andi Hopgood, all the music is arranged by her for the group, giving a new twist to well known classics and introducing lesser-known material. We sing gospel and soul music, regularly performing at numerous music venues or events around the county and sometimes over the border into Essex! We are known as a truly inclusive and accessible choir - no auditions here and you don't need to be able to read music either. We enjoy performing live music using our love of singing and commitment to learning
